Seica was the first European company to design and produce a Flying Probe tester, and 30 years later we are still leading this technology.
Let's go back, BIAS 1995: we are in Milan, Italy and Seica's Booth is the site of the world premiere of the Pilot S20 FP system, an innovative solution that will turn the test market upside down, until then the total prerogative of bed-of-nails systems. That same year the first Pilot S20 FP was installed in Rome, Italy and a second was delivered to a customer in China.
Entirely designed and manufactured in Italy by Seica, this solution did not require the construction of specific fixtures to be able to test UUTs (Units under test) and immediately appeared to be extremely interesting both technologically and economically.
Over the past 30 years, the Seica has continued to strongly believe in and invest in this direction, adding automation, pioneering vertical solutions alongside horizontal ones, while continuously increasing performance in terms of speed, precision, flexibility and test capabilities, resulting in today’s powerful, high-performance Pilot Flying Probe line of test systems.
Today, the installed base of Seica's Flying Probe systems numbers in the thousands and are considered fundamental instruments in the electronics sector, known for their speed, precision and high technological level. These systems are used for testing all types of electronic boards, with a solid presence in the main international markets. Moreover, the technological advances of Seica’s platform has evolved flying probe test from “good enough” for prototype testing only, into a perfect solution also for medium to high volume, with surprisingly positive ROI numbers, deeply oriented to handle the daily changes of products and manufacturing changeovers demanded by almost every market. Furthermore, advanced Flying Probe systems can also be integrated into a fully automated high-volume line, not only thanks to the continuous improvement of mechanical performance and testing technologies, but also thanks to a new and innovative concept of distributed test.
The PILOT VX platform, the gold standard for flying probe testing, offers unmatched speed, precision, and versatility, and its state-of-the-art mechanical and motion control design reduces test time by up to 50%, while 12 multi-function test heads enable double-side probing of up to 44 points simultaneously. Advanced measurement techniques, powered by artificial intelligence algorithms, optimize the test flow in real-time. The FlyPod option extends testing capabilities by enabling access to boundary scan circuits and onboard programming, making the PILOT VX an essential tool for testing a diverse range of electronic boards.
